SecondLife Viewer 2.0 Beta for Linux

So, here it is: new SL Viewer version 2.0 beta and good to announce that it's also working on Linux. However, Emerald Viewer was much more comfortable in use for me, I've noticed that SLV2.0 has few interesting features. The most interesting is using various media as a texture, so now it's possible to put some websites on every face of the 1prim box. I wasn't able to test YouTube video streaming, due lack of Flash support for SL in Linux, but it seems it might work. However, this new feature is not visible in Emerald Viewer and I haven't tested it yet in SLV1.x (previous versions of SL Viewer).

SnakeArtworX is using the Emerald viewer now.

Some time ago I've heard some opinions about alternative SL viewer created by Modular Systems called Emerald. I've had some issues with installing it on my Ubuntu linux, but the previous GreenLife 1.2.3.4-442 build works just fine. The reason why I've decided to switch to other viewer was lack of media streaming in Linden Labs viewer for Linux and some additional features of Emerald. I've just installed it a while ago, so I will need some time to take a closer look at all its features and options. So far it looks quite ok.

It was over a year since I was posting anything to this blog and I've almost forgot about this account. When I've spotted the Facebook page of Bletaverse today, I've thought that it might be a good idea to
start again here. So here I am. Many things happened during the last year. First of all, I no longer have my gallery at Scorpion' mall. Even the mall has changed:) I've took a short break from SL and then
returned without focusing on presenting my art. I was wrong again and soon I've opened my first real gallery at beautiful sim called Seven Isles, which became my home for almost a year. I've met there
many people (few of them are my RL friends now). I've started to create art for that sim and soon opened more galleries.
Few of my RL projects was made thanks to contacts in SL and I've found how great platform for artists SL could be.
Last few months were not as good as I wish. Due the crisis, I was forced to close almost all my galleries, one sim where I've had my last gallery was sold and there was no chance to keep my gallery there.
I'm also quite busy in RL working on illustrations for clients and filling my own portfolio, but if anyone will be interested in my services in SL (posters for events, textures, etc.), send me an IM and we can talk about it.
